Serving Your Beer
IMPORTANT
If your beer is cask conditioned place the container in its serving position and leave it to stand for 24 hours in a cool place. Once tapped it should not be moved so ensure this is the location you want to serve it from. It is best if you can raise up the rear of the cask to minimse wastage.
Venting
1. Place your cask in its serving position 2. Puncture the shive (big bung at the top of the cask) with a peg (included in the pack) 3. Vent the cask by removing the peg
Tapping
1. Check that your tap is shut like the one in the image

2. Drive the tap into the keystone (little bung at the side of the cask) with a soft mallet with confidence. It will go in to about 2/3 the length of the tap. (remember that if you have real beer you are now leaving your cask for another 24 hours)
3. Serve directly from the tap by twisting it open, be carefull as the beer will come out of the front of the tap and not the bottom.
4. If you’re not serving beer for any length of time reinsert the peg back into the shive and push it in hand tight. Remember to remove it when serving again otherwise you will ‘pull’ a vacuum and no beer will come out.
5. When you have finished with your cask seal it up with the cork and peg provided to prevent any spillages in transit
