Our Christmas special is now on sale, and we are very excited about it! We usually hold a vote to decide what our December special will be, but this year we knew what we wanted to brew. Crème Caramel is the most luxurious beer we've ever brewed, and is pure Christmas indulgence.
Weighing in at 5.7% it sits at the stronger end of the spectrum, and is inspired by MD Julia's favourite beer, Southern Tier's Crème Brulee. The malt bill is made up of Maris Otter, crystal, chocolate and a huge helping of caramalt for a complex and deep toffee flavour. We then added Demerara sugar to the brew which leaves behind sumptuous caramel notes when it ferments out, adding to the malt base. The two most important ingredients for this brew however, are the lactose and vanilla. The lactose sugar does not ferment, and therefore leaves a creamy sweetness in the beer, and the heaps of Madagascan vanilla combine with it for a rich custard flavour and mesmerising aroma. This beer is crème brulee dessert in a glass.
