Hop & Berry Tap Takeover.

We are really excited to announce that we are hosting a Tap Takeover in the big smoke in just over a week's time. The handpulls and keg lines of The Hop & Berry in Islington will play host by a wide selection of Tyne Bank treats on Monday 10th August.

Located just minutes walk from Angel tube station on Liverpool Road in Islington, The Hop & Berry is a pub quickly becoming a haven for craft beer. We are really looking forward to an evening of showcasing our ales in one of the best cities in the world for beer, taking over all 6 handpulls and 6 keg lines showcasing specials, seasonals and core beers from pale and hoppy to dark and malty.

From 7:30pm we will be at the pub supporting the event, we'll have samples available of some of our ales in both cask and keg, and we'll be on hand to chat about the brewery and the beers. With every pint you buy you'll be entered into a raffle to win Tyne Bank prizes but be warned, if you're not there when we draw the numbers, we'll keep drawing until someone else wins! So if you're in London for GBBF, make sure pop along and join us for an ale or two.

Cherry Stout at GBBF.

We are delighted to announce that our ever popular Cherry Stout will be available at this year's Great British Beer Festival, the highlight of the British real ale calendar.

This huge event takes place from 11th - 15th August in London's Olympia Exhibition Centre, and features over 900 real ales, ciders, perries and international beers from over 350 producers. This year one of our favourite beers has been chosen to appear on one of the festival's 27 bars, and represent the region among Britain's best beers.

Cherry Stout is a 5.2% oatmeal stout brewed with whole cherries. The already complex malt bill which contains a blend of roasted, chocolate and dark malts is enhanced with the addition of oatmeal for a velvety smooth mouthfeel. A mix of sweet and black sour cherries provide layers of fruit notes which combine with the malts for a 'Black Forest Gateau' character, as the flavours unfold with every sip.

Our first Christmas special, we knew instantly that we had to brew this beer again, and it's since become a firm favourite available year round in bottles and occasionally on cask. If you're heading down to GBBF next month make sure you grab a half, if you can't make it don't worry, it will be available locally on cask from next week.

Keep your eyes peeled for a unique barrel aged version being released later in the year, follow us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram for the latest news.

Wilson's Birthday Beer.

This September Wilson Barbershop Co. celebrate their second birthday at one of favourite pubs in the world, The Brandling Villa. We've teamed up to supply a unique beer for the event, which takes place at the Villa on 5th September.

The beer needs a name, and we need your help. Wilson are based just minutes from the Brandling Villa in South Gosforth, and with most of the folk who get their hair cut and beards trimmed by Robyn and her team, the pub is their local.

The beer will be a 4% pale ale brewed using a blend of Southern Hemisphere hops, and dry hopped with a 'yet to be decided' combination of New Zealand hops. Expect big, juicy tropical and citrus notes with plenty of aroma and a biscuit-like malt base.

Tweet your suggestions using the hashtag #WilsonsBirthdayBeer and we will decide the winner, you have until Friday 31st July. The winning name will of course be featured on the beer's pump clip on the night of the event, and you'll also win a free hair cut and a beery prize.

We're already enjoying some brilliant suggestions, it's going to be tough one to decide so get thinking and tweeting! Good luck.

July Special - Summer Hop

With the fantastic weather we're experiencing at the moment it seems fitting that our July special is a perfect beer garden ale. Summer Hop is a 4.1% pale ale brewing using only one variety of hops, 'Summer' from Australia.

The aim with this beer was to brew a juicy, thirst quenching pale ale with lots of late hop additions, keeping the bitterness low and the flavour high. This seedless variety is grown in the warm Australian climate and gives light citrus aromas and flavours of melons and stone fruits such as apricot.

The first casks are hitting the bars this weekend so grab a bench in a beer garden and enjoy the sunshine with a pint or two of this juicy pale ale. It will also be available in keg later in the month for even more fruity refreshment.
